Daily Madden: The Power Of A Championship
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - 40,000 fans showed up at AT&T Park in San Francisco Monday night for a game that didn't mean anything.
The San Francisco Giants beat the Oakland A's 4-3 in the first game of the annual Bay Bridge Series between the crossbay rivals. John Madden told the KCBS morning crew Tuesday that the fan enthusiasm is a demonstration of the power of a championship, as the Giants continue to bask in the glow of their World Series title.
"It's not meaningless when you win a championship," noted Madden.
John said the competition will be different for the Giants this year, as every opponent will view their games against the Giants as a championship game.
"You don't sneak up on anyone," Madden said. "Everyone plays you all the way through regular season like it's a championship game for them."
Meanwhile, John said the NFL-players dispute shows no signs of ending anytime soon, especially now that it's in court with lawyers involved. (7:50)
