Daily Madden: Questions Remain About The Warriors' Move To SF

SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Warriors made it official Monday morning, they plan to build a new arena and move from Oakland to San Francisco.

"Maybe those fans knew something when they booed him," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew, referring to Warriors co-owner Joe Lacob and his recent appearance before fans at the Coliseum. "They may have known that this was coming."

Madden said the move is far from certain.

"It seems like it may be a ready, shoot, aim thing," Madden said. "The Warriors can say that they want to move, but can you have everything in place so quickly? How do you get the land, are they going to give it to you? Who pays for what? Were do you get the money? How long does it take? You're not sure if it's going to happen or not."

Madden said he's disappointed for Oakland, which is also facing questions about whether the A's and Raiders will stay in the city.

"Oakland needs a win," he said. "Oakland was there for pro sports when pro sports needed Oakland, and now that Oakland needs pro sports...there ought to be a pretty big fight to keep them there."
