Car Flies Off Hwy. 87, Crashes Into Homeless Encampment In San Jose

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Two people were injured after a car flew off the freeway and went careening into a homeless encampment in San Jose.

A sigalert was issued around 1:45 a.m. Monday morning.

A silver Volvo went off the embankment on Highway 87 just south of Capital Expressway and landed in a homeless encampment.

Two people from the camp suffered minor scratches and a third was transported to a nearby hospital according to the San Jose Mercury News. No word yet about their condition.

According to the CHP, the driver became sleepy and lost control of the car. Alcohol or drugs were not involved.
