Channel that crazy kid energy, or motivate those sleepy teens to break away from the computer for some of the best fun the Peninsula has to offer. Gyms are a given for parents, but with increasing obesity rates among kids, it's about time to take a look into the area's top gyms for kids. From climbing to yoga, get those little ones out and active while they're still little.

This family owned and operated company prides itself in offering age-appropriate classes that give tots self-confidence as well as fitness skills. These 45-minute, loosely structured, supervised parent/instructor sessions are available for kids 3 and younger. Children must be at age 3 to 7 to enroll in Junior Gym's hour-long recreational gymnastic classes. Member perks include its open gym twice-a-day hours where members may use the facilities, playing with their kids in a super-fun gym for free.

From preschool tykes to teens just getting into those scholarship-winning sports, Peninsula Jewish Community Center encourages families to cultivate young athletes' skills in its extensive facility. Seasonal camps are one of  PJCC's specialties, and kids of all ages take advantage of clinics and leagues here. Extended care sessions blend craft and fitness skills for kids from preschool through age 6.

Planet Granite's mantra encourages climbing, yoga and fitness. Call to reserve a spot each week for its after-school sessions that start in late August and run through December. Youth rock-climbing teams cluster kids into three age groups to help build and refine their skills. Climb and Dine nights, offered twice a month, give kids ages 5 to 13 a chance to climb and then hang out with their team mates over a nutritious meal.
