Santa Rosa is having its first ShareFair, which focuses on "kids, art and sharing," featuring a Community Stuff Swap, kids' activities from the Children's Museum of Sonoma County, live music and entertainment, tasty food from local restaurants, and work by local "artists, musicians, inventors, and mad tinkerers."

One of Oakland's oldest neighborhoods hosts its street fair, featuring a big line-up of musicians and performers on the Kids Stage, including Karen Quest Cowgirl Tricks, 57th Street Gallery Youth Jazz Ensemble, Jeremy the Juggler, The Blondies, and Circus Spire Youth Troupe, along with kids' carousel rides, and a Climbing Wall. Not to mention some a great line-up of acts on the main stage.

At Saturday's Paxton Gate's Curiosities For Kids workshop, kids 6 and up can learn about the craft of bookmaking, which originated in India. Children will physically assemble an adventure journal, photo album, or a notebook for their next novel using a number of folded sheets of paper, custom covers, and special thread for bookbinding.

AfroCubism and Pellejo Seco at Stern Grove Festival

Your whole family can shake their hips at Stern Grove on Sunday to the sounds of AfroCubism, who bring together "legends from both sides of the ocean for an international jam band that melds the rhythms and traditions of Mali and Cuba," along with local Cuban group Pellejo Seco's salsa-infused sound.

Keith Terry and the Crosspulse Percussion Ensemble will expose your kids to the joy of jazz in ways that will "amaze, delight, and inspire everyone in your family," in a performance that NPR describes as ". . . a crossing of cultures, a blurring of boundaries at its most sensitive, most humanistic, and most magical."
