A's Place Bartolo Colon On 15-Day DL
OAKLAND (CBS/AP) -- The Oakland Athletics called up right-hander Tyson Ross to start Saturday against the San Francisco Giants.
The A's finally placed right-hander Bartolo Colon on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right oblique muscle, a move retroactive to Monday.
Oakland also recalled infielder Brandon Hicks from Triple-A Sacramento to take the place of Collin Cowgill, who went on the 15-day DL a day after he sprained his left ankle.
Colon left his start last Sunday against San Diego with the oblique injury. Ross is in his third stint with the A's this season after being called up in April for the first time when Oakland needed a fifth starter.
