A's 1B Barton Hit While Fielding Throw, Is OK

PEORIA, Ariz. (CBS / AP) ― Oakland Athletics first baseman Daric Barton is said to be okay after being kicked in the calf while leaping for a high throw.

Oakland bench coach Joel Skinner said Barton's injury wasn't considered serious.

Barton was hurt Sunday when he collided with Logan Forsythe of the San Diego Padres in a split-squad game. Barton left the game after the accident in the fourth inning.

Barton hit .273 with 10 homers and 57 RBIs in 159 games for Oakland last season.
