SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The 11-month-old baby whose abduction triggered an Amber Alert in the Bay Area Thursday morning has been located along with his grandmother who is suspected of taking him, according to authorities.
CHP issued an announcement at 2:14 p.m. that both the baby boy and grandmother had been found.
The California Highway Patrol said 11-month-old William Brown was abducted in San Francisco on Wednesday night. The boy and grandmother had disappeared from a grocery store Wednesday night where they had been with the boy's mother.
According to authorities, an individual who had seen the Amber Alert called 911 to report having seen the child and the suspect at a liquor store in San Mateo.
The suspect was identified as the boy's grandmother, 44-year-old Phoebe Haynes. She is described as a black female standing 5-feet, weighing 180 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
The Redwood City Police Department detained Haynes at a Big Lots store on Broadway Street in Redwood City later in the day.
San Francisco police officers from the Bayview Station were contacted and responded to the scene. The boy was evaluated by medical personnel and cleared at the scene.
Haynes was taken into custody and returned to San Francisco. So far, there are no details on the charges Haynes might face for the incident.
