Accused SF Occupy Brick Thrower Had Previous Run-In, Faces Felonies
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) - A man accused of tossing bricks into a crowd of people during Tuesday's May Day protests in San Francisco has had a previous run-in with city workers and will face felony charges, according to the San Francisco Police department.
Dozens of people were arrested early Wednesday as police officers in riot gear raided a vacant building owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco. The building has been targeted in previous protests.
According to a release by SFPD, Jesse Nesbitt was booked of charges of assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and vandalism for allegedly tossing several bricks into a crowd of people gathered outside the building at 888 Turk Street.
A bystander was hit in the face by one of the bricks, but he refused treatment at the scene. The incident was caught on camera by CBS 5.
CBS 5 has confirmed that 34-year old Jesse Nesbitt is the same demonstrator who was arrested on November 9, 2011 for throwing a bottle at a city employee who was trying to clean the encampment at Justin Hermann Plaza.
"That's the same guy" said Michael Andraychak, a San Francisco Police spokesman. "He threw a bottle at a Public Works employee."

Police said Wednesday that 15 of the 26 people arrested at the building occupation were not residents of San Francisco. Four of those live outside the state.
