90s R&B Star Karyn White Makes SF Comeback, Visits CBS 5's Bay Sunday
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS 5) - R&B singer Karyn White, who had success during the 1990s with a number of top hits, came to the CBS 5 Bay Sunday studios in San Francisco this week to speak about her comeback album and Bay Area concert appearance.
White had multiple No. 1 hits in the 1990s, including "Superwoman," "The Way You Love Me" and "Love Saw It." She is also a two-time Grammy Award nominee and a Soul Train Music Awards Best R&B artist nominee.
White said her return at The Rrazz Room in San Francisco's Hotel Nikko was set to coincide with the start of Women's History Month on March 1st.
White is performing at The Rrazz Room through March 3rd.
White talked about her new album "Carpe Diem" and how her return is embracing the album title by literally "seizing the day". She debuted her single/video: "Sista, Sista" which she said is a message to women to "... empower each other and love each other."
White also spoke about the music business, the importance of social media, parenthood, and musical influences including her ex-husband Terry Lewis of the famed production team Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis.
