2 Santa Rosa Men Hospitalized After Spin-Out And Crash

SANTA ROSA (CBS) -- A car spin-out and crash hospitalized two men, and led to the arrest of the driver along state Highway 116 in Sonoma County on Friday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers responded to reports of a solo-vehicle crash along state Highway 116 near Pocket Drive in Guerneville at about 9:20 p.m., according to the CHP.

Arriving crews discovered Juan Onofre, 24, of Santa Rosa, who spun out his 1999 Toyota car off the highway shoulder and into a tree, officers said.

Onofre was arrested after officers checked to see if he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He suffered moderate injuries from the crash and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to the CHP.

A passenger in the car, Miguel Cerriteno, 35, also of Santa Rosa, suffered major injuries from the crash and taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The highway was closed in both directions for about 30 minutes while officers conducted their investigation.

A spokesperson was not immediately available to comment today on the condition of the two men.
