2 Hurt In Separate Oakland Fires

OAKLAND (CBS SF) - One person was taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation after a fire that caused about $40,000 in damage to a home in Oakland on Tuesday night, fire officials said.

The fire started in the kitchen of a one-story home at 2301 Auseon Ave. at about 10:30 p.m., acting Fire Chief Geoffrey Hunter said.

The single-alarm fire was under control within 30 minutes, he said.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, he said.

A separate fire was reported at about 11:30 p.m. at a two-story apartment building at 2115 38th Ave., a fire dispatcher said.

Firefighters controlled the blaze just before midnight.

One person was treated for minor injuries at the scene, the fire dispatcher said.
