Growler Pines Tiger Preserve said in a statement that Ryan Easley died Saturday in "an accident" involving a tiger.
"Evidence gathered from the enclosure points towards him being alive when he was attacked by the tigers," an officer said.
"The animal regarded this as a threat" and killed the man, who was found dead near the remains of his dog, officials said.
The two-year-old Mila slipped off a bench after being given anesthesia for an important dental treatment, the zoo said.
