The 1981 A's weren't expected to do as well as they did, but after getting off to a 11-0 start, Oakland was on a roll—making the playoffs for the first time since 1975 with the exciting brand of play known as "Billy Ball." The whole Bay Area was captivated by Manager Billy Martin and his antics that pushed the A's to an AL West division title.
