Grass fire near Woodland apparently caused by RV towing Jeep, firefighters say
Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire that started spreading just off of Interstate 5 near Woodland on Thursday.
The fire started late Thursday morning near County Road 102, off of the northbound side of the freeway.
According to the Woodland Fire Department, it appears an RV was towing a Jeep when a tire blew up and sparked the flames.
Firefighters say the incident grew to around 40 acres before forward progress was stopped around 2:30 p.m.
No injuries have been reported and no structures in the area appear to have been damaged, firefighters say.
Due to the fire response, County Road 22 has been closed. Firefighters expect the road to be closed through around 3 p.m.
