Woman Found Slain In Gruesome Murder

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Oakland police are investigating the killing of a woman who had her throat slit and was shot several times.

Police say the woman's partially clothed body was found lying on rocks off a jetty in the Martin Luther King Regional Shoreline park Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the victim had defensive knife wounds on her arms and apparently tried to fight off her attacker. The body's condition indicated it had not been there more than 24 hours.

The Oakland Tribune reports that a retired Alameda man found the body around 3:30 p.m. while photographing birds.

No arrests have been made and police do not have a motive for the killing.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $10,000 for information leading to the killer's arrested.
