Woman Arrested In Connection To Officer-Involved Shooting In Fair Oaks
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Brittney Nicholls, 26, of Carmichael was arrested yesterday by Sacramento County Sheriff's Department. Nicholls was identified as the driver of the car that was connected to the officer involved shooting Saturday morning.
Yesterday around 3:30 a.m., a Sacramento Sheriff's Deputy noticed what seemed to be a man being chased by a Mercedes near Winding Oak Drive and Long Canyon Drive in Fair Oaks.
The driver of the Mercedes was identified as Brittney Nicholls, who had a female passenger in the vehicle.
The deputy pulled over Nicholls in her vehicle and took her paperwork and identification. When asked to step out of the car, she initially complied until jumping back into the car and speeding away with the deputy still holding on.
The deputy then took out his firearm and attempted to shoot the suspect, but Nicholls got away along with the passenger and man.
The deputy was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Nicholls identification was left at the scene and around 9:00 a.m. the same day, detectives found her at a home on the 6500 block of Greenback Lane where several guns were located.
The passenger and male involved in the matter were found as well and questioned but then later released.
Nicholls was detained and charged with resisting arrest, assault with a deadly weapon and violation of probation.
She was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail with her bail set at $140,000.
Nicholls is scheduled to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on October 25, 2016.
No one was injured by gunfire during the incident.
