Sacramento Soccer Fans Rejoice In United States' 2-1 World Cup Win Over Ghana

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The United States soccer team opened the World Cup with a thrilling 2-1 win over Ghana.

The U.S. team opened with the sixth-fastest goal in World Cup history by Clint Dempsey and held that lead for 81 minutes, until Ghana responded with a score of its own from Andre Ayew.

But in the 86th minute, the U.S converted on a set piece, with John Brooks heading the ball off a corner kick from Graham Zusi into the net for the go-ahead goal.

The win wasn't all good news for the United States.

Forward Jozy Altidore, a player heavily relied on in head coach Jurgen Klinsmann's system, pulled up with an injured hamstring in the 23rd minute. After the game, the team said it was tight and was awaiting more tests that will be done on Tuesday.
