Top Kids Cooking and Baking Classes in Sacramento

This year, engage your picky little eaters in fun cooking projects and boost the likelihood that they will try new foods. From classes featuring professional "pizza acrobats" to cooking-themed parties, there are several area opportunities where kids can learn how to crack an egg.

Make sure to register in advance for "Kids in the Kitchen," the popular new pizza-making class at Pizza Rock. The restaurant/night club opened in Midtown last year. Kids make their own pizzas using natural ingredients. "Pizza acrobats" trained by championship pizza thrower Tony Gemignani then toss the kids' creations in the air - and into the brick oven.

Whole Foods offers cooking classes in the Culinary Center at their Sacramento store for kids ages 4 to 17. Instructors Culinary Dude and Ms. Butterbean's recent classes have taught kids tricks for making yummy soups, pies and cookies. Check for special classes themed around holidays as well as cooking camps during school breaks. For mom and dad: Don't miss Whole Foods chef Chris Chisholm's "Cooking for Couples" classes, offered monthly. Chisholm also offers private classes for groups based on custom, group-designed menus.

Choose pizza, kabobs or sushi as your main course and a cookie-decorating dessert course is in included in the party price. Plates, utensils and supplies are provided. Parties are geared for children ages 4 to 12; ages 4 and 5 require parent participation. The company also offers kids' food and entertainment for weddings and other events.
