Teen Killed In Stockton Party Shooting Identified

STOCKTON, Calif. (CBS13/AP) - A 15-year-old boy killed in a shooting over the weekend at a Stockton backyard birthday party that also injured eight others has been identified.

The teenager has been identified as Joe Xiong, according to Stockton Police Officer Pete Smith.

Police say Xiong was killed when someone an adjoining backyard opened fire on a group of people attending the party around 11 p.m. Saturday.

The eight other people hit by gunfire included six adult males, one adult female and a male juvenile. Their conditions aren't known.

Investigators determined that the shots were fired by a gunman, or gunmen, who went into the backyard and started shooting over a fence.

"It looks like they kicked our gate open to have access to the backyard," said neighbor Jackie Thoe. "I guess they just stood in there and started shooting."

Detectives have not identified any suspects, or determined a motive for the shooting.
