Suspect Arrested For Saturday Night Homicide
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- The boyfriend of a murdered Sacramento woman has been arrested and charged for her violent death Saturday evening, investigators said.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said witnesses spotted 58-year-old Robert Syas entering the victim's apartment on the 2000 block of Bluebird Lane just after 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
A witness reported hearing a loud fight for several minutes, and about an hour later, deputies received a report that a woman was dead inside the apartment.
The victim had been bludgeoned and stabbed, authorities said.
Detectives found Syas several hours later on the 2400 block of Del Paso Boulevard and arrested him on a warrant for another charge. When interrogated, Syas offered conflicting stories and investigators said they collected enough evidence to charge him with his girlfriend's murder.
Syas is being held without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail. Investigators are still trying to locate witnesses who may have been in contact with Syas after the murder and before his arrest.
