Security Guard Shoots, Kills Trespasser Who Attacked Him

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Police say a security guard shot and killed a suspected trespasser Saturday afternoon.

The scene is on the 500 block of Bercut Drive. According to the Sacramento Police Department, a security guard had shown up in the area to investigate a reported trespasser.

The guard confronted a suspect, but the man then pulled out what police are saying was a large branch and started to attack. Police say the security guard pulled out his Taser, but the attack knocked it out of his hands.

With the suspect continuing to attack him, the guard then pulled out his gun and fired several rounds.

When police showed up to the scene, the suspect was unresponsive. Medics soon pronounced him dead at the scene.

Police say the guard suffered significant injuries to his arm and had to be transported to the hospital.

The suspect's identity has not been released.
