School Board Trustee Pleads No Contest To Faking Paternity Test Involving District Employee

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — An elected school-board Trustee is now facing jail time following his no contest plea in a Sacramento court on Wednesday for faking a paternity test.

The news that Cortez Quinn's legal troubles and his time as a Twin Rivers Unified School District Trustee may finally be over came as a relief to another Trustee we spoke to.

"The district can put this behind us and we can finally move forward," said Michael Baker.

Quinn has been running from news cameras for months after allegations he faked a paternity test for a child born to a district employee.

A district attorney investigator said he was able to get Quinn's actual DNA by following him into a bathroom at district headquarters and grabbing a towel Quinn used and threw in a wastebasket.

Despite calls for him to resign, Quinn stayed in his post.

A conviction will lead to an automatic vacancy on the school board, which issued the following statement"

"There is no doubt that this decision allows the Board of Trustees and the District to close an unfortunate chapter. At this time, we are examining our legal options and obligations regarding the Board vacancy."
