San Bernardino County Could Offer Rewards Leading To Drone Operators Who Hampered Firefight

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) -- A Southern California county may offer $25,000 rewards for tips leading to the arrest and conviction of drone operators who interfered with aerial battles against three recent wildfires.

The San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote on the rewards Tuesday.

Drones pose a threat to helicopters and airplanes used to drop water and retardant on wildfires.

As a result of recent incidents, the state Legislature is considering a bill that would make it a misdemeanor to fly drones at fire sites.
