Sacramento Social Worker Enjoys Human Connections

With the upturn of the economy, better availability of healthcare thanks to the Affordable Care Act leading to shorter times in hospitals and a growing elderly population, it's safe to say that the job of clinical social worker has never been at a higher demand. The job of clinical social worker means that one must oftentimes sit one-on-one with patients and offer personal mental health therapy to improve the quality of their lives. For Renee Elizabeth Stern, this was something that more than piqued her interest. Now working under Sold Wisdom Therapy located in the heart of midtown Sacramento, Stern practices as a fully licensed clinical social worker.

To be a successful clinical social worker requires one to be a master in active listening and making meaningful connections. According to Stern, her job includes "meeting with clients to learn about their current stressors and history. Providing therapy to address current stressors, including guided visualizations and meditations. Recommending resources. Listening, listening, listening. Making connections for people based on what they are saying to help them hear themselves more clearly and move toward greater consciousness in their lives." Some of the greatest joys Stern are talking about and knowing that they feel seen and heard. It's a great reminder that we are all connected; all suffering, striving, all learning."

If you're considering a career as a licensed clinical social worker, consider Stern's curriculum vitae. After a thorough education from the Foundation Of The Sacred Stream in Berkeley, a M.S.W. from CSU Sacramento and a B.A. in psychology from CSU Chico, only then could Stern began her licensing requirements. Listed are more than 3,200 hours of supervised social work, additional coursework and the passing of a written and clinical examination. No small feat by any measure. According to Stern, "This career takes a person who can be honest, humble and kind. The more you are aligned - spiritually, emotionally, mentally, physically - the more you can show up for people when they most need an ear."
