Sacramento Shooting Victim's Family Says Ex-Boyfriend Was Obsessed With Her
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A man turned himself in on Wednesday, saying he murdered a mother of three, including one of his own children.
Sacramento Police say Dameshlo Green entered ex-girlfriend Tamisha Ridge's home through an unlocked door, went straight into her room where she slept and shot her at close range.
Her cousin, Valencia Thomas, asleep on the couch, says she never heard the gunshot.
"And I run in the room and i see her lying there lifeless," she said.
Green would turn himself in to law enforcement about five hours after he allegedly shot Ridge.
By nightfall, everyone who knew Ridge gathered to remember the 31-year-old. Her family believes he did it because he was obsessed with her.
"For him to do this to her, we're going to pursue it, we're gonna take it further, because it's not right for someone to take my baby's life," her father Tony Martin said.
Her three children, including one she shared with Green, were home at the time.
"She was a great mom that a person like me could ever have," said her son Saveyon Smith.
The family believes she was killed, because she refused to be with Green.
"She had been getting all kind of threatening phone calls and text messages for quite some time now," said her cousin Ty Martin.
In Ridge's YouTube videos, she showed of her design skills and clothing business. Those videos are where her children are forced to turn to when they want to see their mother's smile again.
"She always looked forward to getting me and my sisters a better education, and a better place to live and she always took care of us no matter what happened," Smith said.
