UPDATE: Sacramento Man Arrested In Plot To Have Pregnant Wife Killed

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramento police arrested a man Wednesday for paying to have his wife killed and revealed on Friday that the woman is pregnant.

Sacramento police say they received information on Sept. 11 that 30-year-old Hader Nasim was looking for someone to kill his wife. An undercover detective met with Nasim to discuss how and when he wanted his wife killed.

At the meeting, Nasim told the detective that he wanted his wife killed immediately in exchange for money. Nasim reportedly paid the detective and was arrested shortly thereafter.

Nasim is now being charged with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of solicitation of murder. He's being held in the Sacramento County Jail without bail. He made his first court appearance Friday afternoon, where a bail hearing was set for Wednesday.

A friend maintained that he is not capable of this crime.

"He's a very good person; he's a very good human being, and that's all I can say," the woman said. "He's not a murderer."

CBS13 spoke with Nasim's wife's brother in Dubai over the phone, but he would only say the couple had just been married in February.

Outside the court, family and friends who came also refused to comment.

Nasim's attorney called him innocent, and is hoping he treated fairly.

"That's what we would urge everyone not to do, is jump to conclusions, and just wait for all the facts to come out," said Nasim's attorney Dionne Choyce.

The Sacramento Police Department urges anyone with information about this incident to contact Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357) or text in a tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information.

Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
