Sacramento Kings Announce Local Food Vendors For Golden 1 Center

By Kelly Ryan

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — The Sacramento Kings are going local with the Golden 1 Center's first round of concession stand vendors.

The team says it's goal is to locally source 90 percent of the arena's food.

Mi Pham is a nationally acclaimed chef, the owner of Star Ginger and Lemon Grass and chosen to be in the new downtown arena.

"The way we build the sandwich it's got all these beautiful ingredients nicely," Pham said.

Bahn Mi means sandwich in Vietnamese and will be served at games along with papaya salad and Thai chicken wings.

The Kings' food and beverage services provider, Legends Hospitality, made the first round of restaurant choices including Paragary Restaurant Group, Selland Family Restaurants, LowBrau Bierhall and Star Ginger.

Chef Kurt Spataro and Randy Paragary from Paragary's restaurant group will be running three of their restaurants.

Maybe you prefer a bratwurst with beer cheese and some duck fat fries. LowBrau's most popular menu items will soon be available as courtside cuisine.

All the restaurants chosen stick to the commitment made by Golden 1 Center, sourcing food and beverages within 150 miles, reating the nation's top notch farm-to-fork arena.

Fans can choose their favorite foods and flavors or try something new. But it's likely with all these new fresh food choices, no one will go home hungry.

The Golden 1 Center is slated to open in October 2016.
