Sacramento Highway 50 crash closes several westbound lanes near 16th Street
A tanker truck overturned on westbound Highway 50 in Sacramento late Wednesday morning, spilling about 100 gallons of diesel and closing several lanes near the 16th Street off-ramp.
The crash happened just before 11:30 a.m. and left the truck blocking part of the roadway and the off-ramp.
Sacramento Fire said the driver was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
Hazmat crews are working to transfer the remaining fuel from the overturned truck into another tanker while containing the spill.
Caltrans said lanes 4, 5 and 6 are closed, along with the 16th Street off-ramp.
It remains unclear what caused the truck to overturn.
Drivers are being urged to use alternate routes and expect delays through the area. No estimated time for reopening has been announced.
