Republic FC Season Comes To An End With 1-0 Loss To LA Galaxy II

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Fans went from smiles to frowns really fast. It was a rough night, but the support was strong.

It's a fan base that's as strong as the come – the "Sacramento Proud" crowd determined to "Beat LA," no matter their experience with the sport.

"I had a game today. We won," said a little boy.

The match had all the sweet ingredients for victory – not just here, but in the major leagues.

"That's right, do or die," said Republic FC President Warren Smith.

Smith says a future in Major League Soccer never looked better.

"We know it's going to happen because we believe in Sacramento, this community, the people," Smith said.

The team is expected to present specific architectural and financial plans for a new downtown railyard stadium by the end of the year.

"[The] ball's in their court," Smith said.

For now, the focus is at Bonney Field where a rare "Supermoon" was in the sky capping off an incredible season at home in front of an incredible crowd.
