Remains ID'd As Missing Colusa County Man

YOLO COUNTY (CBS13) -- Forensic investigators have confirmed that the human remains found along a Yolo County creek several months ago belonged to a Colusa County man who was reported missing in 2008.

The family of 37-year-old Jose Luis Velasquez reported him missing in October 2008 after they lost contact with him for several weeks.

A group of hunters stumbled across the remains on April 17, and the bones were sent to Department of Justice forensic laboratories to confirm the victim's identity.

Additional searches are still being planned in the area to locate more remains and any evidence that could point to the cause of death. Investigators said they are treating Velasquez's death as suspicious.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to contact Yolo County Sgt. Lance Faille at (530) 668-5212.
