Rancho Cordova City Manager Resigns After Negative Performance Evaluation
RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) — The Rancho Cordova City Council accepted the resignation of its city manager during a special meeting on Monday.
The council met to discuss Brian Nakamura's evaluation at the Monday meeting. The Chico Enterprise-Record reports the council voted 5-0 to accept Nakamura's resignation.
The resignation comes just before Nakamura had been on the job for a full year.
Cyrua Abhar has been appointed interim city manager.
Before Rancho Cordova, Nakamura held the city manager post in Chico. He resigned on May 28, 2014. Chico Mayor Scott Gruendl told the Chico News & Review Nakamura's rapidly changing employment—now 11 positions in 22 years—was a concern when he was hired. However, Gruendl praised Nakamura's cutting of city government and removing people in management who didn't get the job done.
