Prisoner Seriously Hurt In Stabbing Attack

FOLSOM, Calif. (CBS13) -- An inmate is in intensive care after being repeatedly stabbed by two other inmates in California State Prison, Sacramento.

According to CSP-SAC officials, two inmates serving 25-to-life for first degree murder ganged up on another inmate and attacked him with sharp, improvised weapons just before noon.

The victim, who is incarcerated on convictions of robbery and forgery, suffered several puncture wounds. He has not been identified.

Officials say standard protocol is to lock down the part of the facility where the attacked occurred and separate the aggressors from the general population.

The results of the investigation will likely be forwarded to the District Attorney, who will determine if charges will be filed.

The suspects have not been identified.
