Power Outage Impacts Thousands Of SMUD Customers In Vineyard Area

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Thousands of SMUD customers were without power Thursday night in the Vineyard area of Sacramento County, according to the utility's outage map.

SMUD said the outage occurred just before 10:30 p.m. and full restoration was expected by 11:55 p.m. However, by midnight, more than 5,900 customers still had their power off, according to SMUD's outage map.

More than 16,000 customers were initially impacted.

The cause of the outage is under investigation.
