Officer Involved Shooting Suspect Shot, Taken Into Custody

STANISLAUS COUNTY (CBS13) --  A suspect wanted for a Ceres officer involved shooting was shot and captured Friday evening shortly before 6 p.m., according to authorities.

The man, Jorge Mendoza, 25, was held up at a home near Geer and Alderson Road in Stanislaus County, according to authorities.

Multiple agencies arrived at the scene and surrounded the home. Eventually, the suspect came out of the home and apparently opened fire.  The officers returned fire, wounding the suspect as he retreated back indoors.

Authorities say that suspect eventually gave up and was taken into custody.

Mendoza is being treated at a Modesto hospital, and will be booked into the Stanislaus County Jail.

Police say they pulled into an AM/PM parking lot Tuesday night and attempted to detain four people in a red pick up truck; 2 women and 2 men.

At some point, one of the men began struggling with the officer eventually pulling out a gun and firing two shots.  The officer was not hit but one bullet did hit the officer's patrol car.

Mendoza then got free and ran from the parking lot.

The other three people in the truck were detained.

Mendoza has an extensive criminal history that includes a conviction in 2007 for assault with a firearm.
