NorCal Cowboys Headed To UK To Train Therapy Horses For Wounded Soldiers
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Two Northern California cowboys are heading across the pond to share their equestrian expertise and help wounded soldiers at the same time.
Jay Richardson and Robert Gonzales are preparing for a four-month trip to the United Kingdom where they will train more than twenty horses to be used as therapy animals for wounded serviceman.
"They want to be cowboys. They want to be free. They want to ride and shoot guns off of horses. They want to rope things," explained Jay Richardson of the Sacramento Horseman's Association. "That's what these guys need. They're tired of being patients and they're tired of being victims. They need to know there is life and horseback gives them that."
These two American cowboys were selected based on their 50+ years experience with natural, western-style horsemanship techniques.
As of right now, these horse men are paying their own way for the trip.
