Maloofs Keep Quiet At Final Kings Home Game
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Fans got a thank you from their star center, but no comments from the owners, the Maloof brothers.
One year ago they were pursuing relocation, and once again the team's future is in limbo.
Mayor Kevin Johnson says the feeling isn't quite as hopeless tonight.
"I think the fans [Thursday night] here, are not in the same position we were a year ago. Last year people thought it was the last game. Worst case scenario, I think there will still be another season," said Johnson.
Last year some fans were moved to tears; Thursday, the emotions have morphed.
"It's like frustration, we want a conclusion. We wanna know," said Kings fan Kelly Auradou.
Kings announcer Grant Napear was moved to tears live last year. He calls this year the most emotional of his career, even saying the arena deal collapse was like losing a loved one.
"I felt I had been kicked I the stomach several times, I said the last time I felt that bad, was when my dad died 5 years ago," said Napear.
It's another dramatic end to another crazy Sacramento Kings chapter, with another kingside cliffhanger, to be continued.
