Major Injury Accident Snarls Holiday Travel Traffic Near SFO
MILLBRAE (CBS13) – A horrible start to one of the busiest travel days of the year in the Bay Area as a major injury accident caused a massive traffic mess near San Francisco International Airport.
Lanes in both directions of Highway 101 just north of the airport were blocked for several hours after an SUV crossed the median from the northbound lanes and flipped over into the southbound lanes just after 6:00 a.m.
CHP is reporting that at least one person suffered major injuries in the accident.
Motorists were asked to use Interstate 280 as an alternate route.
The lanes were reopened by 9:00 a.m.
