Large Tree Crashes On Cars On J Street; Nobody Injured

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A tree cracked in half, and came crashing down on a busy Sacramento street during Monday evening's commute.

The tree landed on several cars on J Street, but somehow nobody was hurt.

"I saw it break and go down, and it happened kind of in slow motion, and I was 'Oh my gosh,'" said Terane Mallett.

She and her mom were driving home when the tree fell and they jumped into action.

"Automatically, we just got out and went to see if they were OK, but luckily they made it out safe," she said.

Rudy Garza was on a break from classes at Lincoln Law School when he heard cracking noises. He caught it all on video.

The tree that fell was on Sutter Middle School property. The school district is working with the city to figure out what caused the tree to fall.
