Kings Bench DeMarcus Cousins Over 'Choking'

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Kings center DeMarcus Cousins has been fined and benched following a ironic taunt toward the end of Tuesday's game against the Golden State Warriors.

With less than 20 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and a 5-point lead, Cousins grabbed his throat in a mock "choking" gesture as Warriors guard Reggie Williams missed a free throw attempt.

Williams made a second free throw and missed the third, but the Warriors were able to recover the rebound and went to the line again. A last second rebound and a desperation three-point heave from the Warriors tied the score and forced the game into overtime.

The Warriors ran away with the game and won in overtime 117-109.

Coach Paul Westphal announced during practice that Cousins was fined an undisclosed amount and will be sitting on the bench for the start of the Kings' next game against the Bucks Thursday night.
