Jaycee Lee Dugard Writing Second Book

NEW YORK (AP) - After writing a best-seller about her 18 years in captivity, Jaycee Lee Dugard is working on a book about the joys and challenges that followed.

Simon & Schuster announced Tuesday that it has acquired Dugard's "Freedom: My Book of Firsts," scheduled for release July 12. The book will focus on her "first experiences" after the ordeal ended. Dugard said in a statement that "Life doesn't have to end if you don't want it to. It's all in how you look at it."

Dugard was abducted in June 1991 on her way to school in South Lake Tahoe, California. Then 11, she was held until 2009 by Phillip and Nancy Garrido, was raped repeatedly and gave birth to two daughters. She described her ordeal in the 2011 release "A Stolen Life."
