Federal Grand Jury Indicts Matthew Muller In Denise Huskins Kidnapping

VALLEJO (CBS13) — A federal grand jury has indicted a man in a kidnapping Vallejo Police once called a hoax.

Matthew Muller, 38, of Vallejo was indicted on one count of kidnapping in the abduction of Denise Huskins.

Huskins was reported missing in March in what was described as a kidnapping for ransom plot. Two days later, she was found at her father's Huntington Beach home. An email to the San Francisco Chronicle purported to be from the suspect notified authorities of this.

After remaining mum on the case for two days, Vallejo Police declared the case a hoax and described the investigation as "a wild goose chase." Later that night, Huskins' uncle contacted CBS13 blasting Vallejo Police for their handling of the case.

Nearly four months later in July, the case took another twist when Muller was arrested.
