Elderly Woman Bloodied, Hospitalized After Home Invasion In Mountain House
MOUNTAIN HOUSE (CBS13) – An elderly woman was left bloodied and hospitalized after a home invasion that happened in Mountain House early Wednesday, the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office said.
Authorities said the woman's neighbor notified law enforcement after one of his security cameras captured an unidentified man in the victim's backyard.
"He saw a man in the backyard of one of his neighbors and he knew that this neighbor lives by herself and it was an elderly female. So he was concerned for her safety," said Sandra Mendez, spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriffs Office.
Investigators arrived at the 400 block of San Juan Drive just after 5 a.m. to check up on the woman, who the neighbor said lived by herself. When inspecting the home, investigators said they located large amounts of blood along the side and back of the property.

The woman was located a short time later suffering from what the sheriff's office described as "significant injuries." Investigators said the home invasion occurred sometime between 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. According to the sheriff's office, multiple suspects entered the woman's home and assaulted her.
Neighbors said their sense of security is shattered after learning one of their own was beaten by strangers. Maria Moreno says heard screaming as she made her morning coffee.
Deputies believe the woman was beaten with an object, but couldn't say what. When they found her inside her home, she could barely talk.

"She was in an out of consciousness, so she wasn't really able to give us a statement as to what happened," Mendez said.
Now deputies search urgently for her attackers but struggle to paint a clear picture due to the poor quality of the surveillance image and the fact that most neighbors did not see the attack.
Anyone with information that may lead to the identification of those involved is asked to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office.
San Joaquin county has at least two deputies that patrol Mountain House. They were removed from the area last year due to budget issues, but they had been assigned back to Mountain House long before this attack.
