Elderly Woman Attacked In Her Own Home On Halloween

SACRAMENTO (CBS13/AP) – An elderly Land Park woman is recovering after being attacked in a home invasion robbery while Halloween trick-or-treaters roamed her neighborhood, according to Sacramento Police.

The 90-year-old woman apparently answered her door on Perkins Way near Riverside Boulevard thinking it was a trick-or-treater.

The suspect then broke into her home, hit her and then robbed her. The woman was able to get to her neighbor's house for help. The neighbor is a nurse who treated her for a bruise over her eye before the woman was taken to an area hospital.

"It's very out of the ordinary (for Land Park)," neighbor Victor Laney said.

The woman went on daily walks alone in the neighborhood, neighbors said.

Police say Halloween makes potential victims more vulnerable.

Sacramento Police searched the are for the robber, but no arrests have been made.
