Driver Suffers Major Injuries After Hitting Cow

SACRAMENTO COUNTY (CB13) - A driver was seriously injured late Sunday night after she hit a cow on the road, according to the CHP.

At 11:40 p.m. Sunday, Paige Hardee, 21, was driving in a 1998 VW Beetle on Baseline Road 1.5 miles west of Watt Avenue when she slammed into the cow, causing major damage to the front passenger side of the car and killing the cow.

Hardee was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

CHP investigators say alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor.

Correction: We originally reported the accident happened at Baseline and Elverta Roads, but this has since been corrected.
