Detectives Arrest Auburn Man Accused Of Exposing Himself To Young Girls

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Sacramento County sheriff's detectives arrested a 56-year-old Auburn man Tuesday on charges of indecent exposure and child annoyance or molestation.

Jerry Caldwell was taken into custody in Placer County and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on $150,000 bail, according to sheriff's spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos.

According to the sheriff's department, Caldwell approached an 8-year-old girl at the pharmacy inside a Wal-Mart store in Sacramento County on Feb. 1. Caldwell removed his genitals from his pants and exposed them to the victim. Caldwell then left the store without being identified.

Two days later, Caldwell allegedly approached a 5-year-old girl inside a Thriftown USA store in Sacramento County, removed his genitals from inside his pants and exposed himself, then again left the store without being identified.

Further investigation by detectives led to the identification of Caldwell as a suspect. His identity was later positively confirmed by the female victims in both cases, according to the sheriff's department.

Detectives believe that there may be additional victims. Anyone recognizing Caldwell and believing that they had inappropriate contact with him is asked to call Detective John Linke of the Sheriff's Child Abuse Bureau at (916) 874-5191.
