Denio's Now Accepting Food Stamps

ROSEVILLE, Calif. (CBS13) -- One of the biggest open-air markets in Northern California has begun accepting EBT payments, giving low-income families access to the farmer's market and boosting vendors' bottom line.

The CalFresh Program, formerly known as Food Stamps, kicked off at the Denio's Farmer's Market & Swap Meet this weekend to acclaim from both buyers and sellers.

Customers simply take their EBT card to Denio's token office, and after the card is verified, customers can begin shopping, according to officials.

"More people are coming now," said vendor Martha Quezada. "It's great for Denio's and it's great for us."

The CalFresh program is meant to give households access to affordable fresh produce and cannot be used to purchase anything else.

Denio's is open every weekend from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
