California man sentenced to 2 years in prison for setting kittens on fire
TURLOCK - A Turlock man convicted of arson was sentenced to two years in prison on Monday, the Stanislaus County District Attorney said.
Joshua Scott, 21, was convicted of torturing two kittens and setting them on fire, authorities said.
Scott will have to register as an arsonist when released.
The DA's office said that the Turlock Police Department and the Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit conducted an additional investigation that produced "key evidence" allowing them to pursue more serious arson charges against Scott. These charges made Scott's sentence one that will served in prison.
In Sacramento County, a teen in the Orangevale area is out on bail after being arrested for allegedly killing at least one cat and stealing another one.
With a population of over 70,000, the city of Turlock is located roughly 93 miles southeast of Sacramento in California's Central Valley.
