Bystanders Save Woman From Deadly Crash
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – Quick-thinking bystanders are being credited with saving a grandmother from a fiery crash that claimed the life of her grandson Sunday morning.
A sedan with a 30-year-old man and his 69-year-old grandmother crashed into a tree off Sunrise Boulevard early Sunday morning, trapping the two occupants inside, authorities said.
Witnesses and bystanders quickly leaped into action, calling 911 and working to pull open the damaged doors. Glen Davis said the car caught fire soon after the accident and spread quickly.
"Flames were coming out of both sides," Davis said.
Davis helped pull the woman out of the car while other bystanders managed to free the man through the passenger side door, but although both victims were rushed to the hospital, the man did not survive.
The woman is being treated for serious injuries.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
