Best Spring Festivals In Sacramento

Spring has arrived and it is time to get out and enjoy family, friends, and fresh air. Here you will find a number of festivals that should peak the interest of one and all. If you enjoy film, going green, live entertainment such as Danny Gokey or local artist Lisa Daggs, strawberries, or ethnic diversity, there should be something for you to enjoy. Not familiar with some of these festivals? Try one, you might find something new to enjoy.
The Sacramento International Film Festival

The 20th annual Sacramento International Film Festival will be April 25 through May 3, 2015 at the Delta King, Tower, Esquire, and Crest Theaters. This week-long extravaganza of film art will feature established and rising stars. Tower Records Project will present a party following the premier of All Things Must Pass: The Rise and Fall of Tower Records on April 25. The fundraiser will have a live auction, and all proceeds will support Tower Records Project. Digital Odyssey Engaged and other events can be found on the official website.

Food-Cycle Celebration And Compost Festival

On May 7, the Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation will host the Food-Cycle Celebration and Compost Festival. This is a free event for all ages to find out what Sacramento is doing to reduce wasted food, making this is a zero-waste event. International Compost Awareness Week is celebrated at this event, and it will showcase Sacramento's green schools, edible school yards and garden programs in the community. Come out and learn what you can do to eliminate food waste in your home.

On May 16, Fish hosts the Fish Family Festival at Cal Expo. General admission is $10, while VIP admission is $29.95, with ages 12 and under free. Parking is an additional $10. The event will feature Danny Gokey, Tenth Avenue North, Colton Dixon, Mark 209 and Lisa Daggs.

May 9 and 10 is the time to go to the Berry Fest! May 9 events entail the Berry Fun Color Run, Boy Scouts Pancake Breakfast, the Little Miss Strawberry Pageant, Strawberry Cruise-classic car show, Kids Zone Caboose Stage, Michael Marks Berry Cooking Demonstrations & Competition and more. iFest (International Festival)

The iFest in Rancho Cordova celebrates the ethnic diversity of their community. This is also an outreach to offer newcomers to share their heritage culture. The event runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., on May 16 for free. Some of the features are a car show, piñatas, a scavenger hunt, a variety of dances, henna tattoos, international food, and activities for the children.
